what are dental implants?
A complete implant restoration consists of three parts:
1. Implant – the titanium fixture placed into the bone.
2. Abutment – the connector attached to the implant.
3. Crown – the custom-made replacement tooth.
Implants can support a single crown, multiple teeth, or even a full arch of teeth.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots, usually made from medical-grade titanium (or occasionally zirconia), that are surgically placed into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. Over several months, the implant fuses with the surrounding bone in a process called Osseointegration.

Dr. Baha Bagdadi is a highly skilled and experienced dentist with a special interest in oral surgery, bringing over two decades of expertise to Croft House Dental. Qualified with a DDS from Gazi University Faculty of Dentistry, Turkey (2001), Dr. Bagdadi holds full registration with the General Dental Council (GDC no: 227851). His extensive career includes roles as a Specialty Doctor and Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at prestigious institutions such as Buckinghamshire Hospitals, Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital, St George’s Hospital in London and Harley Street Specialist Hospital. With training in head and neck oncology, maxillofacial trauma, and deformity surgery, Dr. Bagdadi is proficient in minor oral surgery and implant placement. His commitment to clinical excellence is evidenced by multiple audits improving patient care and operational efficiency, as well as two Superior Serving Signs awarded during his service as a Lieutenant Dental Officer in the Turkish Air Force. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Bagdadi enjoys an active social life, practicing martial arts (Aikido) and coaching rugby. Dr. Bagdadi is dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality dental care and is available at Croft House Dental every Tuesday to serve patients with professionalism and precision.

Meet with your doctor
Your journey begins with a consultation, where we assess your smile and discuss your treatment goals. A 3D CBCT scan is taken to carefully assess your jawbone and plan the ideal position for your implant.
step two
Implant placement
The dental implant is gently placed into your jawbone under local anaesthetic. The implant is then left to heal and naturally fuse with the bone over approximately 3 months, creating a strong and stable foundation for your new tooth.
step three
Crown placement
Once the implant has fully healed, we uncover it and take a digital scan. This is sent to our dental laboratory, where your custom-made crown is carefully crafted to match your natural teeth.
step four
Fitting your new tooth
At your final appointment, your new crown is securely attached to the implant. You'll leave with a strong, natural-looking tooth that restores both your smile and your ability to eat and speak with confidence.
